What does it truly mean to be thirsty?

In John chapter 4, we find one of the most profound encounters in all of Scripture -- Jesus sitting at Jacob's well, speaking with a Samaritan woman who came simply to draw water. But this story is about so much more than water. It is about the wells we keep returning to in our own lives -- the wells of approval, success, relationships, and recognition -- wells that satisfy us for a moment but leave us empty and returning again and again. Jesus draws a stunning contrast between the water in that ancient well and the living water He offers. Jacob's well required a bucket, a rope, and a return trip. The living water Jesus offers becomes a fountain rising from within us, flowing constantly, never running dry. The question this encounter places before us is deeply personal: what wells are we still visiting, hoping they will finally satisfy what only Christ can fill?
